  1. Project Templates: Can I create a project from a template?

Yes. Any project in your installation can be used as the basis for a new project.

To create a project from an existing project:

    • Browse to the project you wish to copy
    • On the Project Overview screen, click Project Options on the right
    • Click Copy this project
    • A dialog will display allowing you to name the new project

When your new project is created, all items from the existing project will be created and offset by the correct number of days from the project creation date.

    Tip:

Create a number of projects to act as templates:

    • Name the project [Template] My Project Name
    • Do not give access to other users in your installation
  2. What are Archived projects?

Archived projects are projects that you specifically mark as Archived in Project Settings.

Archived projects do not display activity on your Dashboard or Project Overview screens and can not be edited until they are marked Active again.

The Archived status is used to hide completed projects and do not count against your subscription project limit.

    Example:

If you are on the Business 1 plan which has a limit of 15 active projects, you could have any number of total projects which can be viewed but only the 15 active projects can be edited.

  3. Also, is there a way to “Close” and then “Archive” a project (for projects that get put on hold for several months, etc.)?

Yes, you can. To archive a project, go to the project overview tab, choose project settings from the drop down menu and then set the project status to "Archived".

When a project is set to Archived, it is hidden away and you can no longer make changes to that project. The project will no longer count against your maximum number of active projects.

  4. How do I reactivate an archived project?

You can always set the project to "active" later by going to the Dashboard page and clicking "Show inactive projects" button in the sidebar.

This will list your inactive projects.

Click the project you want to change and on the project overview page, select "Project Settings" from the project drop down menu.

Then just set the project status to "Active" and click the save button.

You can also click Projects in the top left of the app and choose Archived Projects.

  5. How do I delete an unwanted project?

You can delete a project that is unwanted by:

    • Going to the Project Overview of the project you wish to delete
    • On the right hand side, click the Project Options dropdown
    • Click on the Delete Project menu option
  6. What does the setting "Contact Details" do?

The Contact Details setting is a simple but effective setting which once enabled, hides the contact details of clients from other clients.

This is useful if your project is being collaborated on by clients that do not know each other or outside contractors.

It is also used to ensure all communication between your clients stays with in Teamwork Project Manager and your clients are not able to email each other outside of your installation as their contact details are not displayed.

    Options

    • Only my company can see them
      • Only people that are members of your company can see client contact details
    • Everybody can see them
      • All people on this project can see the contact details of all other people on this project
  7. What are starred projects?

Starred projects are projects that you are only interested in or currently working on.

When a project is starred, the Dashboard only shows information pertaining to those projects.

You will only see Late, Upcoming and Due Today notification badges for items in your starred projects.

You can toggle between Starred Projects view and All Projects View on the Dashboard by clicking the button next to Add Project on the Dashboard.

  8. Who can create projects?

Only Administrators and people with the permission Can Create Projects can create new projects.

There is a slight difference between Owner Company Administrators and Client Company Administrators

    Owner Company Administrators

These are people marked as Administrators and part of the owner company. They can create projects and assign projects to client companies.

    Client Company Administrators

These are people marked as Administrators but not part of the owner company. They can create projects but the projects they create are assigned to their company. Other client companies and users are not exposed to these administrators.

People Marked As "Can Create Projects"

    • if part of the owner company
      • They can create projects and assign projects to client companies.
    • if not part of the owner company
      • They can create projects but the projects they create are assigned to the company they are part of. Other client companies and users are not exposed to these administrators.
  9. Project Chart : How to enable this feature

The project chart gives you a "Gantt" style view of your projects highlighting any milestones on the project date line.

Only projects with Start and End dates will show on the chart. You must have at least one project with start and end dates set for the chart tab to display.

To view the project chart, add start and end dates to at least 2 projects and then click Projects in the top left and choose the Project Chart tab.

As the projects shown on the chart have start and end dates set, we can work out the progress of the project based on the tasks and milestones in each project.

    • Red : This means that the project end date has been reached but there are uncomplete items in the project. The project is considered late.
    • Green: The project end date has passed and all tasks and milestones are complete. The project is considered complete.
    • Blue: The end date has not been reached yet. The project is considered pending.
  10. Can I restore a deleted project?

Yes. You can restore any project deleted in the last 30 days by clicking Projects in the top left and clicking the Trash Can button on the bottom right of the screen.
