  1. Can I notify people when a message is added?

    Yes. When you create a new message, you can choose to notify one or more members of the current project.

  2. Can I reply to messages via email?

    Yes. When a new message or message reply is added to Teamwork Project Manager, an email notification is sent to people who have been selected to receive a notification.

    These people can reply to the email from their email client such as Outlook, Thunderbird, Gmail etc and their email will be logged as a message reply on Teamwork Project Manager.

    You can also choose to disable this option per project using the Project Settings page.

  3. Can I attach files to a message?

    Yes. If you create a message in Teamwork Project Manager, you can optionally choose to attach files to the message.

    To attach files to a message, click Attach files to this message... on the message composition form.

    Any files that are attached are uploaded to Teamwork Project Manager and available both in the Message section and in the folder Message Attachments in the Files section.

  4. Can I delete messages and replies?

    Yes. You can delete your own messages and replies.

    If you are an Administrator you can also delete other peoples messages and replies.

  5. Can I archive messages?

    Yes. An Administrator or Project Administrator can Archive old messages to keep the Messages section of a project tidy.

    When a message is archived, it moves into a new section on the left called Archived Messages. 

    Archived messages do not accept any replies. If a person replies to a message notification by email and the message has been archived, they will receive an email back saying that their reply has not been added to the message thread.

  6. Can I see who a message has been copied to by email?

    Yes.

    Under each post in a message, you can hover your mouse over the text "x people" to see the names of people the message was copied to.

  7. Can I format my messages and comments?

    Yes. We support Markdown (Read more) which means using basic formatting in the text gets converted to nicely formatted content without the hassle of WYSIWYG editors.

    Simple Example:

    This is a message with **bold** text and *italic* text

    Here is a list:

    - Item 1
    - Item 2
    - Item 3

    Sample Output:

    This is a message with bold text and italic text

  8. Can I create messages via email?

    Yes. Each project has a unique email address that allows you to forward, cc, bcc or send emails to the project.

    You can find this email address by clicking the Messages tab in each project and choosing the "Post a message via email" link in the left of the page.

    You can customize this email address if you like.

    Notes

    • These emails will create messages in the Inbox message category.
    • Attachments will be saved with the message.
    • Only emails sent from your email address registered on Teamwork will be accepted.

    Options

    • Add notify+ to notify all people on the project
      • e.g: notify+example@messages.teamworkpm.net
    • Add private+ to post a private message
      • e.g: private+example@messages.teamworkpm.net
    • Add #End after your email contents so your signature is not included

    Additional From Email Addresses

    Alot of people have multiple devices and email accounts so your email address is not always the email you registered as your primary email address in Teamwork.

    If you click your name in the top right and choose My Details, you can add up to 3 more alternative email addresses that you will be matched against.

    Note on Attachments

    • Attachments from emails forwarded through mail.app on iOS do not work
      • Photos or Documents sent directly through an iOS app do work (ie: Not forwarded)
    • Exchange Servers sometimes attach attachments as winmail.dat which are ignored

  9. Can I delete/edit comments?

    Yes. Comments on Tasks, Milestones, Notebooks, Files, Resources etc can be deleted and edit.

    If you are an Administrator or Project Administrator you can delete/edit any comment.

    If you are not an Administrator you can only Edit/Delete comments you posted within 15 minutes of posting the comment.

    Users who are not Administrators can not delete/edit comments written by other users on the project.

  10. Can I turn Markdown off?

    Yes. If you are an Administrator in the Owner Company, click Settings in the top right, choose Site Settings and turn off the Use Markdown setting.

    When Markdown is turned off all your comments and messages will be shown as plain text. We will activate any links in your messages and comments.
