Can I import my Basecamp data into Teamwork Project Manager?
Yes. if you have an existing Basecamp account and would like to switch to Teamwork Project Manager, you can automatically import your data using or Basecamp import tool. items transferred include Companies, Users, To-do Lists, To-dos, Milestones, Messages and Time Logs.

So how do I enable the Basecamp API?
For the import to work, you must have the API enabled in your Basecamp account.
The Basecamp API is enabled by default on all accounts. You don’t have to do anything to turn on this feature. When a third-party application asks for your API token, you can find it on your My info page by clicking the “Show your tokens” link.

Can I import Writeboards from Basecamp?
No. The Basecamp API does not give access to your Basecamp project writeboards.
You would manually have to copy and paste the writeboard HTML into Notebooks in Teamwork Project Manager.
If the Basecamp API supports this in the future we will add it.

Can I import Files from Basecamp?
No. The Basecamp API does not give access to your Basecamp files.
You would manually have to upload the files to the Files section of Teamwork Project Manager.
If the Basecamp API supports this in the future we will add it.
We do have a multiple file upload widget that allows you to upload all your files easily.

Are all messages from Basecamp imported?
Basecamp allow files to be attached to messages and do not force a message body but they do not give access to Files from their API.
In this case, the messages returned from the Basecamp API could have a blank message body. We do not import the message from Basecamp if the message body is empty.

How many times can I import my Basecamp data?
You can import your Basecamp data as many times as you want without duplicates being created.
This is useful if you are slowly migrating to Teamwork Project Manager and want to do regular synchronizations with your ongoing Basecamp account.

When I import from Basecamp my Dashboard and Project Overview is empty. Why?
The Dashboard and Project Overview in Teamwork Project Manager is a history of actions performed while using Teamwork Project Manager.
While all your data is imported from Basecamp, the Dashboard and Project Overview will gradually start to fill up with activity as your use your imported projects using Teamwork Project Manager.

Where do I go in Teamwork to start the import?
if you are an Administrator and part of the owner copy, click Settings and choose Site Settings from the drop down.
On the next page, choose the import tab and enter your Basecamp details to start the import.

What do I do if my import fails?
We do our best but there are any number of reasons why an import might fail including us receiving invalid data from Basecamp. If this happens, just get in touch with us and we will investigate the problem for you and resolve it usually within a matter of days.

This message can be returned for the following reasons:
- Your Username/Password combination are incorrect
- The Basecamp API is not enabled on your Basecamp account
Enabling the API on your Basecamp Account
The Basecamp API is enabled by default on all accounts. You don’t have to do anything to turn on this feature. When a third-party application asks for your API token, you can find it on your My info page by clicking the “Show your tokens” link.
Your Basecamp account owner can enable the API by going to the Settings tab, then clicking the API link at the top of the page from with in your Basecamp if the API has been disabled on your Basecamp account.

I don't see an "API, Export" link on my Basecamp settings page
If you do not see the "API, Export" link on your Settings page in Basecamp, you are not logged in as the account owner. You will need to contact your Account owner and ask them to enable the API.
